한국외국어대학교 인도연구소 한국-인도 수교 50주년 국제학술대회 성료 

한국외국어대학교 인도연구소 HK+사업단(소장 김찬완)은 2023년 10월 26일과 27일 양일에 걸쳐 인도 뉴델리 자와할랄 네루(Jawaharlala Nehru) 대학교에서 네루대 Centre for East Asian Studies 그리고 대외경제정책연구원(KIEP)과 국제공동학술대회를 개최하였다.

한국-인도 수교 50주년을 기념하여 개최한 이번 학술대회는 "Great Transition in India-Korea Relations: Celebrating the 50th Anniversary of the Friendship"이라는 주제 하에 한국, 인도, 일본, 베트남, 태국, 필리핀 등 6개국에서 30여 명의 학자들이 참가하여 한국과 인도의 과거를 살펴보고, 현재와 미래를 조망하는 의미있는 시간을 가졌다.

개막식의 개회사에서 김찬완 소장은 한-인 수교 50주년을 축하하며, 본 국제학술대회를 통해 한국과 인도의 양국 관계를 증진하고 상호 연구 분야에서 밀접한 협력 관계를 이어갈 것을 기대한다고 밝혔다. 이후 Alka Acharya(Centre for East Asian Studies 학과장)의 환영사, Satish Chandra Garkoti(네루대 Pro-Vice Chancellor)의 축사. 장재복 현 주인한국대사와 Amit Kumar 현 주한인도대사의 환영사, 그리고 이준규 전 주인한국대사와 Skand Ranjal Tayal 전 주한인도대사의 기조연설이 이어졌다. 

26일에 첫 번째 세션에서 ‘India-Korea Cultural Relations’를 주제로 발표가 이어졌다. Vyjayanti Raghavan 네루대 교수가 “Social Transformations in India and Republic of Korea since 1990”에 대해, 한국외대 박치완 교수가 “Masala movie as a globalization of local culture- Focusing on the analysis of 3 Idiots”에 대해, 한국외대 임근동 교수가 “Phonological examination on Siddhamātṛkā of Tripitaka Koreana: Focus on the Origin of Hunminjeongeum, the Korean script”에 대해, 서울대 구하원 교수가 “Building New Memories: Princess Heo and Indo-Korean Relations of the 21^st Century”에 대해 발표하여, 한국과 인도의 문화적 측면의 과거와 현재 그리고 미래를 조명하였다.

두 번째 세션은 ‘India-Korea Relations in Era of Indo-Pacific Strategies’라는 제목으로 네루대 Sandip Kumar Mishra 교수가 “Soft Powers of India and South Korea in their Bilateral Relations and Beyond”에 대해, 한국외대 김봉철 교수가 “Legal Infrastructure for the Korea-India Relation: Legal Challenges and Prospects for the Mutual Development”에 대해, 한국외대 Rajiv Kumar 교수가 “Setting a New Agenda for the India-Korea Partnerships for Next 50 Years: Exploring Prospects for Semiconductor Cooperation Amid US-China Chip War”를 주제로 인도 태평양 시대에 따른 한국과 인도의 전환기적 관계에 대해 논의하였다.

세 번째 세션에서 ‘India-Korea Economic Relations’를 집중하여 다루었다. 델리대 Pravakar Sahoo & Smita Miglani 교수는 “India-Korea CEPA: A Critical Evaluation”에 대해, KIEP 노윤재 부연구위원은 “The Demographic Dividend and Labor Market Opportunities in India”에 대해, KIEP 김경훈 부연구위원은 “Unlimited potential: Opportunities and challenges in Korea-India development partnership”에 대해, 한국외대 김미수 교수는 “Forging closer Economic Relations between Korea and India”를 발표함으로써, 21세기 한국과 인도의 경제 협력 및 전망에 대해 논의하였다.

27일에 첫 번째 세션은 ‘India’s Foreign Policy in a Changing World’라는 제목으로 한국외대 문남권 교수가 “The Growing Advance of India into Latin America”를, 한국외대 홍완석 교수가 “The Characteristics and Dynamics of Russo-Indian Relationship: From Perspective of South Korea”를, 한국외대 김시홍 교수가 “Multipolarity, Indo-Pacific and EU-India Strategic Partnership”을,  한국외대 신근혜 교수가 “The Image of Thotsakan in Contemporary Thai Society: Focusing on Thai Popular Songs”을, Research and Information System for Developing Countries의 Prabir De 교수가 “India and Korea in ASEAN: Engagements and Way Forward”를 발표하여, 인도와 세계 여러 나라 간의 정치적, 경제적, 문화적 관계에 대해 심도있는 논의를 하였다. 

두 번째 세션은 ‘Way Forward: India-Korea Relations’라는 주제로, 한국외대 Aditi Singh 교수가 “Unveiling India and South Korea’s Soft Power Symphony: People-to-People Ties and Beyond”를, 네루대 Satyanshu Srivastava 교수가 “Korean Studies in India: Current Status and Future Prospects”에 대해, 네루대 Kaushal Kumar 교수가 “The Rise in K-Content Consumption & Digital Influencers in India”를, 네루대 Manish Kumar Barnwal  교수가 “Korean Literature under the Umbrella of Hallyu: Scope and Possibility in India”를, 한국외대 최지연 교수가 “Marananta(摩羅難陀, 마라난타) and Jigong(指空, 지공): Indian Monks' journey into the Korean Peninsula”를 발표함으로써, 한국과 인도의 미래 지향적인 관계를 포괄적으로 논의하였다. 

세 번째 세션의 주제는 ‘India and International Relations: Lessons for Korea’이었다. 리츠 메이칸 아시아태평양대 Hidetaka Yoshimatsu 교수가 “India-Japan Relations in the Evolving Geostrategic Landscape: Implications for Korea”에 대해, Ateneo de Manila University의 Jozon Angeles Lorenzana 교수가 “Exchanging food, knowledge and technology: Possibilities of Filipino-Indian relations and Lessons for Korea”:를, Vietnam Academy of Social Sciences의 Le Hang Nga과 Nguyen Thi Thu Ha 교수가 “Vietnam-India Political and Cultural Relations: Suggestions for Korea”에 대해, Chulalongkorn University의 Jirayudh Sinthuphan 교수가 “Decolonizing India-Thailand Relations: A Lesson-learned for Korea”에 대해 발표하였다. 이를 통해 인도와 다른 여러 나라들의 관계가 한국에 주는 교훈은 무엇인가에 대한 논의가 이뤄졌다. 

폐회식에서 네루대 Centre for East Asian Studies의 Sandip Mishra 교수는 국제학술대회를 위해 물심양면으로 지원한 네루대 총장, 한국외대 인도연구소 소장, KIEP 담당자에게 감사 인사를 전하였고, KIEP 조충제 소장은 경제 등의 여러 분야에서 양국의 협력을 기대한다고 밝혔다. 끝으로 한국외대 인도연구소 김찬완 소장은 200여명이 참가한 이번 국제학술대회의 성공적 개최를 축하하며, 향후 학술 교류를 인적 · 물적 측면에서 확대하여 양국 관계의 발전을 위해 노력을 기울이자며 폐회를 선언하였다.
